Winter in the foothills of the Drakensberg

To everything there is a season

In the lives of the rural people on the missions, the seasons are a strong influence. There’s a season for sowing and a season for reaping, and the month of May is very much about conserving what little families may have, to see them through the coming winter.

The hillsides and valleys are turning to gold as the tall grass dries, and in the higher reaches these same hillsides and valleys will turn to white when the winter snows come. It will look beautiful, but the reality will be cruel in the extra hardships that winter brings to the poor.

Please keep the missions in your thoughts and prayers in what is predicted to be an early and severe winter this year.
