There’s more than joy in toys

When we told you how little Zenandi’s life was changed by his experience of the toy library at Hlabisa, you helped to expand the range of educational toys in this really important resource centre.

Whilst toys can be dismissed as something ‘frivolous’, they are essential to a child’s development. They encourage curiosity, and teach children to explore, learn how to work in groups, and develop skills without pressures to succeed or have expected outcomes.

Without this little toy library that is ‘in the middle of nowhere’ in rural KwaZulu-Natal, the children from poor families would be deprived of the opportunity to grow in so many different ways.
