Possible Beatification for Southern Africa

Benedict Daswa was not of the Zulu tribe, nor a member of our Archdiocese. But he was a devout Catholic who died at the hands of a mob for refusing to contribute towards, or take part in a witch hunt, because of his faith.

The cause for Benedict’s beatification as a martyr was considered by Vatican experts in October, and will be reconsidered this January. If there is a positive outcome, the matter will be put forward to Pope Francis.
