Archbishop Denis Hurley leads Easter procession through the streets of Durban

Traditional Good Friday Procession through the streets of Durban

The traditional Good Friday procession, initiated by Archbishop Hurley in 1985, takes place on Friday 14 April. The theme this year is “Whom Shall I Send?”,  words taken from Isaiah 6.8.

The event begins at 6am with a service led by Cardinal Wilfrid Napier OFM at the Durban Exhibition Centre. Then follows the famous inter-faith silent walk of witness to the City Hall for a final service around 8.15am.

As always this is a unique opportunity for Christians of all traditions to come together to give joint public witness to the events of Holy Week and recall suffering and injustice.
